Main IDEA empowers youth by providing free, quality visual and performing arts programming to under-served communities in Worcester.


Program Development Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Help facilitate existing program (After School Arts Clubs and Teen Open Mic Nights)

-Teach and supervise children and youth during indoor after school arts programming

-Opportunities to lead and/or spearhead programming

-Assist is preparing age-appropriate activities

-Helping plan and execute end of year recital

Interviews will be held virtually for roughly 45 minutes.

Our internship is entirely flexible; we ask that students have some availability between 2:30-4:00 pm on any day of the week M-F that works for them, as well as flex time throughout the week for weekly team meetings, supervision, and administrative tasks. Hours: 8-15 hours/week (flexible). The position is hybrid (both in-person at 9 Irving St., Worcester, MA and remote).

CSWS: On-campus Greenhouse position with Regional Environmental Council (2 positions available) Spring 2025

AVAILABLE FOR Shifts: planting/work sessions on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm and there will be a shared watering schedule where everyone is expected to water 2 - 4 times per week. Watering takes between 10 - 20 minutes. 

 

REC Mission and Background

The Regional Environmental Council (REC) is a grassroots food justice organization that has been working in Worcester since 1971 promoting community leadership and creating access to food for Worcester’s most food insecure communities. Every spring, the REC grows and distributes over 8,000 seedlings to over 70 community and school gardens within REC’s UGROW network and our YouthGROW Farm, which employs over 40 Worcester youth every summer. We rely on student volunteers, work-study students, and other community partners to help us care for the seedlings throughout the spring. 

College of the Holy Cross Greenhouse Work Study Description

Where: Holy Cross Greenhouse in the O’Neil Science Building

Supervisor: Tom Trepanier, REC YouthGROW Farm Coordinator

When: March-May

Hours: You can expect to work around 3-5 hours/week depending on the greenhouse needs, which usually increase closer to May.

Responsibilities: Work study students are responsible for watering the seedlings every day or every other day depending on the schedules of the other work-study students; and sending email updates at the end of the shift regarding seedling health, greenhouse temperature, and any additional seedling care needed.
